This time of year, it's so common to hear people talk about running off their meals or working off their treats.
No.
I don't run or workout because of anything I eat or don't eat.
I run because I love the freedom it gives me. I run because it makes me feel strong and capable of taking on the world. I run because it makes me a better mama, wife, friend, sister, daughter, and person.
I workout because it keeps me healthy. It lets me run. It allows me to keep up with my crazy girls. It lets me explore this amazing world.
I eat the things that fuel my body and the things that make me happy. Sometimes that means I eat avocado toast with a side of veggies. And other times it means I eat too many servings of my mother-in-law's Christmas crackle with a side of ice cream.
Neither is good or bad. Neither makes me healthy or unhealthy, fit or unfit, a runner or not a runner.
But c'mon, let's stop this nonsense that we need to earn our food or work it off. Let's be grateful for healthy body's that move. Let's stop saying these things, even if they're so ingrained in us, so that the next generation of girls doesn't have to fight this the way we do.
